How to Replace Trodat Replacement Ink Pads in your Trodat Printy Self Inking Stamp

 

1. Place the Trodat Self Inking Stamp on a sheet of paper that's on a flat surface. Make sure to have the stamp in the upright position. Position the stamp so the front of the stamp (with the Trodat logo) is facing away from you.

2. Locate the side of the installed ink-pad on the bottom stamp housing, just below the seam of the top housing section. This will appear as a thin rectangular plastic insert.

3. Press the top section of the stamp down about 1/8 inch, until the bottom seam of the top housing as slightly above the top seam of the ink pad, and depress the buttons located on both sides of the top housing. Depressing the buttons will lock the top housing in place and allow the ink-pad to be removed in the next step.

4. Turn the stamp around so the Trodat logo is facing you. Depress the button just below the logo. This will push the ink-pad slightly out of the housing on the opposite side of the stamp.

5. Grasp the edge of the ink pad with your fingers and simply pull it out of the stamp.

6. Unwrap the new SWOP-Pad ink pad. Insert it fully into the pad chamber with the inked side facing up.

7. Depress the top of the stamp to unlock the side buttons. This will lock the ink-pad in place, and allow the stamp to function normally.

8. Print a few test imprints on a piece of paper by pressing the top of the stamp. The test imprints will serve to re-ink the internal stamp die and prime the new pad. When all areas of the imprint are readable and show even ink coverage, the stamp is ready to use.

Other helpful tips:

Keep new SWOP-Pads wrapped in the original packaging until installation to prevent possible ink drying or ink transfer to other items while in storage.

Use light, even pressure when making stamp imprints for best results.

Store stamps in a upright position while not in use to prevent possible ink migration on the ink pad. Ink migration may cause uneven imprints.

Avoid touching the top of the ink pad. Although Trodat SWOP-Pad ink is non-toxic, it may require several washings to remove ink from skin, and may be difficult to remove from clothing and surfaces.

Always stamp on a clean, dry surface to prevent possible contamination of the ink pad and stamp die.

Store stamps and ink-pads in normal environmental conditions. Very hot or cold temperatures, or very high or low humidity, may affect ink flow and cause uneven imprints.
